Our Practice Approach

Our Practice has remained centred on the belief that good financial advice changes lives, and with this in mind, we work towards the following goals:

  • To provide accessible and easy to understand financial planning advice to clients.
  • For this advice to be bespoke to our client’s individual needs – whatever their life stage or circumstances.
  • To build trusted, long-term relationships with our clients.
  • To help our client’s secure and enhance their financial future and achieve their financial objectives.

We recognise that there are no off-the-shelf solutions, as it is our experience that every single client has their own personal concerns, responsibilities and ambitions. We therefore value each of our clients as individuals who require a bespoke service.

When we first meet a new client, we work to a three-stage process to ensure these goals remain integral to our service and that you get the most out of your relationship with us.

1. Initial Meeting

First, we need to get to know each other. We will take the time to discuss what is important to you and what you want to achieve. During this meeting we also tell you a little bit about ourselves. There is no commitment to progress with us, and we usually agree at the end of the chat to catch up in a couple of weeks to see if you feel comfortable working with us.

2. Working together to build your personal financial plan

If you decide you would like to work with us, we will sit down together for a more in-depth chat about your family, finances, current circumstances and assess your attitude to risk and timescales. This allows us to build a picture of where you are currently and formulate recommendations to help you meet your future goals and objectives. We will also explain clearly how our fees work and if you choose to work with us, we will produce a full report of our recommendations and have a further meeting to make sure that you are clear on your understanding of these recommendations and happy to put them into place.

This advice will be backed by the St. James's Place Advice Guarantee.

3. Ongoing Support

Once we have created your bespoke financial plan, we work with you for the long-term, providing you with a single point of contact for all your financial planning needs.

We will agree regular formal reviews, to make sure that your plan remains aligned to your goals and objectives, is performing the best it can, whilst also taking into account any changes to your circumstances and preferences. It also gives us an opportunity to discuss the broader world markets and economies that influence the investment performance and answer any questions you may have.

Outside of these formal reviews, we are always just a phone call or email away for any advice and support, or questions for you, your family and even friends.

As we have relevant webinars and client events come up, we will also ensure that you remain notified of these to give you the opportunity to attend.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.
